Neolitico

A sign of rupture that becomes of value, a creative gesture that defines a form, a vigorous action by which man and water can affect matter, shape it, transform its surface. The apparent randomness of the stone furrowed by the flow of water, the variable force with which the artist sculpts the marble block to give it form, the random and unpredictable split that reveals after a hit the essence of the material. Paolo Ulian and antoniolupi's investigation of form as a result, even not fully controlled, of the gesture of breaking, is enriched by a new protagonist.

Neolitico, and it could only be called so is the new freestanding sink obtained by manually digging the basin, to simulate the action of water that drop after drop erodes the material. The ritual of nature replicated by the hand of man to give life to a rough surface, revealing the inside of the material, as opposed to the perfection of the cylinder furrowed only by the unique veins of marble.

"I have conveyed to this sink a feeling I get while hiking in the mountains, when I encounter along the way those natural hollows carved into the rock with irregular shapes determined by time and chance. When it rains, they fill with water and for me they become the best sink in which to cool off, because the rock has the power to make me feel good. A presence that has inhabited our DNA since the beginning of time. The rock is us."

"I chose a geometric shape as simple and perfect as the cylinder, which blends perfectly along the perimeter edges with the irregularity of the split-worked stone bowl. Two contrasting finishes that come together in a casual formal fusion that is precisely why it is perfect."
